New site is online!

It's online! Matt's Classic Cameras site has been rebuilt and is better than ever!

What's not done yet: sample image galleries are coming soon - I'm splitting this into one gallery per camera section instead of having them all on one big page. I'm also still fixing dead links, as many of the sites I used to refer to have sadly fallen off the web entirely. However, there are new ones to take many of their places, I just have to gather them and update pages.

Once this is done, I will be adding in the pages that never quite got finished, including:

Elikon 35CM
Nikon EM
Nikon FM2
Perfex 55

If you find anything really broken or weird let me know. Also, let me know if you miss having the list of thumbnails and descriptions on the camera pages themselves, I'm on the fence about that.

Cheers & happy shooting!

Matt

Hi, I'm so glad to find your blog!
I ran across two Fed3 cameras at a charity shop in Latvia. The one whose price tag I saw was 36 Euros (about 42 USD$). I couldn't tell which body style they were, and I didn't dare ask the lady to get them out of the case to look at them closer because I knew I would buy one. : )

Anyway, I was looking up info about them and found your page on Fed3s, and you asked why Russians (well, Soviets, since these were made in Ukraine) made copies of other cameras instead of designing their own (I think that's what you meant). It could be because they didn't want to put the time and funds into researching and designing new items when they could copy other items and get them on the market sooner. I've heard that about other items in the Soviet manufacturing marketplace.

  3. Hey I'm Phillip I like your blog I'm creating one myself, anyhow before I saw this page I was thinking looking through the pages that led me here, Which was highlighting the Kodak Duex and how many people actually have one becuase of the manufacturing time, what if we had a Kodak duex party how many people would show up if we promoted this party to tourist and of coarse the Americans who recognize this so called passive Camera, let's do this
