I ran acros...Hi, I'm so glad to find your blog!<br />I ran across two Fed3 cameras at a charity shop in Latvia. The one whose price tag I saw was 36 Euros (about 42 USD$). I couldn't tell which body style they were, and I didn't dare ask the lady to get them out of the case to look at them closer because I knew I would buy one. : ) <br /><br />Anyway, I was looking up info about them and found your page on Fed3s, and you asked why Russians (well, Soviets, since these were made in Ukraine) made copies of other cameras instead of designing their own (I think that's what you meant). It could be because they didn't want to put the time and funds into researching and designing new items when they could copy other items and get them on the market sooner. I've heard that about other items in the Soviet manufacturing marketplace.
